ITmaze is travelling around rural and remote Australia and has done since January 2003. We connect to the 'net with a 2m Satellite Dish which provides us with broadband connectivity where ever we go. The link is a 400kBit down, 76kBit up and uses Gilat's Skystar 360E VSAT technology which connects us to the Optus B3 satellite on a geostationary orbit at 152° East. Our Internet feed is from Optus SatWeb 2-way.
The dish is intended to be bolted to a pole which is either supposed to be concreted into the ground or attached to a house, but neither options allows us to travel, so instead we built a frame to support the dish and protect it against movement from the elements.
The dish has been set-up many times and below is a map showing each location.
